About The Client

HB’s famous Hazelbrook Farm family range of ice cream desserts, premium Carte D’Or tubs and successful multipacks like Magnum, Solero, Cornetto, Kids and Classics. The kids range is specially formulated for little taste buds with favourites such as Loop the Loop, Twister and Calippo. The classics range is hugely popular in Ireland with some of the country’s biggest selling ice creams such as Ice Berger, Maxi Twist, Choc Ice and Brunch – ice creams that we grew up with and still love!

The Challenge

The World Cup France July 1998, Winners France 3-0 against Brazil. To celebrate the summer and soak in the footie that month HB decided to run a competition to attend the World Cup finals. Free tickets flights and expenses were up for grabs for 3 lucky winners. Tickets were at a premium and the competition was looking hot. The trick was how do we run such a competition and what was the best way to deliver the brand successfully.

Our Solution

CDG devised an offline and online strategy. Develop a website for people to interact with the HB brands and enter a competition and TV stings to make the brands more memorable during the summer of 1998. CDG developed one of the first Flash based websites in Ireland which was considered wow for its time and won awards for best website in several competitions later. The website delivered the football fever sensations using football imagery to reinforce the theme around the brands. The solution was very colourful and inviting and use of movement made it look spectacular and busy just like the tournament.
